New York Philharmonic in Harlem

(by Kimberly H.)

Greetings neighbors,

I am a musician with the Manhattan Wind Ensemble, a community band and I’d like to share this link of free events in our neighborhood. I will be sure to share more information about our upcoming concerts with you all soon 🙂

Take a Breath

Take a Breath brings artists, musicians, and subject-area experts together to explore the intersections of music, mental health, and community. In three free workshops at Mother AME Zion Church, we will witness the power of music to heal, guide, and inspire us at various stages of our lives:

Music and the Family – March 9, 2024, at 2:00 PM
Families are invited to take part in interactive activities and musical performances to demonstrate music’s key role in creating supportive relationships.

Music, Grief, Healing, and Celebration – April 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM
Explore the process of grieving and how music can be part of our restorative path towards healing in this session.

Music, Mindfulness, and the Community – June 8, 2024, at 2:00 PM
In this workshop, we unearth the root causes of anxiety and understand how music-based mindfulness practices can help put our community on a path to wellness.

Mother AME Zion Church is located at 140–148 West 137th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard and Lenox Avenue, in Harlem. Get directions.
