(by Tracey L.)

The Committee of Concern held a heartwarming community event on Saturday June 22, 2024 where residents gathered for a day of wellness education and coloring.

The community wellness and coloring event speaker was Nurse Practitioner Aisha Smith of Smith Care (www.smithcare.life) who shared valuable insights into psychoneuroimmunology, explaining the intricate ways in which stress impacts the body. Attendees were enlightened on how certain foods can help reduce stress, learning about the powerful connection between diet and mental well-being. This informative session provided residents with practical tools to manage their stress and improve their overall health, fostering a sense of community and support.

Adding to the vibrant atmosphere, Richly Learning (RichlyLearning.com), an independent publisher, showcased an array of coloring pages from their diverse collection of coloring books. Residents of all ages engaged in coloring activities, filling the room with creativity and relaxation. The act of coloring, combined with the newfound knowledge of stress management, created a therapeutic experience for everyone involved.

Laughter and conversation flowed freely as neighbors bonded over shared artistic expression and a deeper understanding of health, making the event a memorable and enriching experience for the entire community.
