Mitchell-Lama Info – Thanks for the Flowcharts!

A resident writes:

“I’ve been meaning to thank RVT Voices for the Mitchell Lama info posted in the elevator.

Co-op owners really need to understand — we don’t pay ‘rent’ but we have monthly fee obligations that each unit is assessed. We also have responsibilities as owners — some of which we have to work with the management company, or the board, or the super, or the police, etc., to carry out. If we don’t  stay on top of everything, we could get swamped. The  info you posted is a necessary reminder.

Residents need to stay informed and alert about any possible changes in the ‘protected’ status of Mitchell Lama.  That helps keep individual monthly fees from quadrupling.   As the new mayor and The City work on creating new cheaper housing for working class NY residents, we at 626 (and other ML developments) need to make sure we stay protected. Unchanged. 

Anyway, thanks for your efforts. I was glad to not have to chase it down digitally. In fact ALL our notices, invitations, reminders, etc., should be printed out and collected in a regular loose leaf binder. That way people who are digitally challenged can sit in the library and copy info. By ‘digitally challenged’ I mean no computer, an old computer, no home wi-fi, unable to access instructions fast, hearing/sight problems and the like.”
